Notifications
Overview
Deadline can be configured to notify users when their jobs finish or if they have failed. In addition, Deadline can be configured to send notifications to administrators when certain events occur on the farm (like when a Slave has become stalled, or if a Slave is being shutdown by Power Management).
Email Notifications
Before Deadline can send email notifications, you need to configure the Email Notification settings in the Repository Options.
You can also configure Deadline to send emails to one or more recipients when certain events happen, like a job finishing or a slave stalling. For multiple recipients, just use a comma to separate email addresses.
Job Notifications
Users can edit their user settings to control whether or not they receive notifications for their jobs. They can choose to be notified by email, netsend, or Growl.
To receive email notifications, the user just needs to set the Email Address setting and enable the Email Notification option. Note that email notifications will only be sent if the SMTP settings in the Repository Options are set properly.
To receive netsend messages, the user just needs to set the Machine setting to their workstation's host name or IP address and enable the Netsend Notification option. Note that these messages are sent to the Deadline Launcher application on the specified machine, so they need to ensure the Launcher is running in order to receive these notifications.
To receive Growl messages, the user needs to have Growl installed (there are versions for OSX and Windows). Then they just need to set the Machine setting to their workstation's host name or IP address and enable the Growl Notification option. Finally, they can configure their Growl Settings:
- Growl Password: Password used for Growl notifications (if required by the Growl installation on the receiving machine).
- Growl Sticky Notifications: Whether or not Growl notifications remain on the screen until clicked.
